Are you Australian Owned or a Franchise?
Cool Clubs Australia is owned and operated by locals and is not a franchise.
We utilise the best technology Cool Clubs USA has to offer for fitting and building clubs and augment it with our knowledge of local conditions to ensure you get clubs suited to our conditions.
Our Head of Fitting Zane Navie has had over a decade fitting amateurs and professional golfers across the globe. All out fitters are PGA qualified then undergo a substantial training period (over 6 months) before being allowed to fit in one of our studios.
Are your fittings indoors or outdoors?
All our fittings are conducted in our State-of-the-Art studios undercover hitting onto a range using ProV1 golf balls.
Ball Flight doesn’t lie.
Fitting indoors you can’t determine ball flight and how it is affected by different fitting options. Ball flight and club/swing measurement gets the most accurate readings when it can see the entire flight of the ball. Indoors, even with an optimal setup, many launch monitors have to calculate many of the numbers it reports rather than actually read ball behavior.
Access to Grass
Additionally all our locations have access to grass hitting areas and bunkers if needed for wedge testing. Doing this we can test turf interactions where required. This cannot be achieved indoors regardless of the technology used.
So why do others fit indoors?
Simple, it’s much cheaper to have a studio off-course. Also the available locations are limitless.
Can I get a fitting but buy elsewhere?
After your fitting we will give you your full specification.
You are free to get the clubs built elsewhere but be aware that no one, regardless of what they tell you, can build to our exact spec. To get the performance you achieved during your fitting the clubs should be built to that specification.
They may be able to put the components together but that does not mean the outcome is going to be close to your club specification. When we build to our specification we can guarantee the club will be built correctly.
If you are considering building elsewhere here are some questions to ask of your builder:
Can you build to Cool Clubs FM specification using equipment calibrated to their specification?
Hint: No one can calibrate to our equipment (and thus specification) but us.
Do you have a grip on or grip off frequency machine?
Hint: We use two different machines one for the fitting (grip on) and one for building (grip off) calibrated so the resulting club is built correctly.
Do you match head weights and shaft weights prior to building?
Hint: Cool Clubs Scottsdale carry thousands and heads and shafts in stock. Each weighed on receipt from the manufacturer upon receipt. This allows us to build with the correct combination of head and shaft to meet your specification.
Can you SST Pure the shafts prior to building?
Do you employ craftsmen club builders motivated by quality rather than speed of assembly?
Is your build shop building to or exceeding tour level?
Can you guarantee that if you build the clubs and I have Cool Clubs measure them they will be exactly to this specification in every detail?
These are just a few of the considerations that affect the outcome of the build process. There are many more.
We often say we leave nothing to chance. This applies to our fittings through to our build, repairs and after-sales service.
Can I split a fitting across several sessions?
Some of our longer fitting sessions require a lot of balls be hit. If you want to spread these over multiple sessions just give us a call and we will book the sessions to fit your schedule.
Choosing the Right Shaft Flex for Your Golf Clubs
Golf club flex refers to the amount of flexibility in the shaft of a golf club. Different shaft flexes are designed to suit the swing speed and style of different golfers. For example, a golfer with a slower swing speed may benefit from a shaft with more flex, as it will allow the clubhead to accelerate through the ball more effectively. On the other hand, a golfer with a faster swing speed may benefit from a shaft with less flex, as it will provide more control and precision. Golf clubs are typically available in different flex options, such as regular, stiff, and extra stiff, to accommodate the needs of different golfers.
The flex you are familiar with A, R, S, X etc has no real meaning with each manufacturer giving it’s own measurement and thus, shafts with the same flex from different manufacturers with the same flex can be wildly different.
At Cool Clubs we use the FM scale to determine shaft flexibility. Like Flex this is a measure of the shafts flexibility but it is much finer grained allowing for more precise and repeatable build of your clubs. It is also not reliant on a particular manufacturer. So if we build a club to say 7.0 FM we know, regardless of shaft brand that we can build shafts exactly to the frequency.
Do you do club repairs?
Yes we repair to the same tour standard as we build clubs.
Minor repairs are carried out in each studio. Larger repairs and rebuilds are sent to our Carrara studio.
Do you guarantee my clubs will work the same as during the fitting?
We stand behind the performance of every club we build. If you ever have a problem with a club we have built bring it back to the studio and we will address it.
In fact the clubs we deliver will be slightly better suited to your swing than those you tested during your fitting. This is due to the frequency being matched precisely to your specification. This occurs because we cannot stock every shaft in every frequency to test. This would require us to stock thousands of shafts.
Your individual specification will normally include a shaft frequency that falls between the fitting shafts. Meaning the delivered clubs will be exactly what you require.
Do you refund the fitting cost if I buy clubs?
As much as we would like to offset the fitting cost to any clubs you buy we can’t. All the technology we bring to the fitting, the testing process and test equipment, the range of clubs and shafts and the best fitters anywhere all cost lots of money.
A free fitting or one that is offset against the clubs is not going to utilise the expertise we have developed, nor is it going to deliver the best performance and provide clubs built to a tour standard.
Do you sell golf club sets?
Cool Clubs fit and build custom clubs. We do not sell pre configured and built golf sets.
Our approach is to provide a premium fitting and club build experience. Whether we provide driver fairway woods, iron sets, putters or any other combination of clubs.
To provide a complete set in that are commonly available from manufacturers such as Callaway Golf, Ping and others would mean were not providing the absolute best clubs tailored to an individuals needs. These off-the-shelf golf packages provide a great way to start your golf. But like low cost golf balls, soon make reach the limit of their performance.
We believe in giving our clients a set of clubs tailored to their needs. Our process is the same regardless of handicap or if we are fitting for junior golf, ladies golf or seniors. Our goal is to have your golf bag full of clubs that are built for you. Allowing you to play the best golf you can.
Do you stock left hand clubs?
Yes we stock a wide range of clubs for left handers.
We try to have all the heads available in Left Hand from our suppliers. Sometimes the release of a LH version of a club can be delayed and sometimes they do not release them at all.
If you look at our fitting matrix for each fitting type it will list what we have in left and right hand.
Does Cool Clubs provide coaching?
Cool Clubs does not do any coaching except that absolutely necessary to ensure your club is being delivered correctly. We do do more coaching during Putter fitting as it is critical that osture be correct to deliver the putter to the ball.
We believe professional coaching and professional golf club fitting are separate skills and we concentrate of fitting golf clubs.
If we have a customer who we feel should see a coach before buying clubs we will refer them to a coach and work with them to determine what is the best time to come in for your fitting.
How do I choose my first golf set?
Choosing your first set of golf clubs can be a daunting task.
What is most important is that you do not get fitted according to your handicap or gender.
Get fitted for clubs that are appropriate to how you swing the golf club and are appropriate to where you are looking to progress your game.
How do you determine lie angle?
We do not use lie boards as in most cases they are laid on top of the hitting surface (relative to foot level) meaning the measurement can easily be over 1° out of specification.
Your physical size (height, arm length etc.) has no bearing on the correct lie angle for your swing.
Even if you were to sink the lie board into the floor it can still give readings that are not 100% accurate. Lie boards never measured the important things in determining lie angle for a golfers swing.
We look at swing plane consistency angle of attack and dynamic lie to understand the 3 dimensional view of lie.
Understanding these measures help our fitters not use lie angle as a masking agent for a golf shaft that is too stiff or soft or a length that is too long or short.
We intensely look at a client’s path and shaft angle patterns to see why they may strike the heel or toe into the ground.
The most important factor in club fitting is centre strike of the club, this is a combination of length, loft, lie, shaft flex, weight and EI profile all coming together combined with a technique pattern from the player. From there a client can better understand their technique and club delivery.
Quite simply a lie board just does not give enough of an answer as to why the club is entering the ground incorrectly and why the ball may not be finding the centre of club.
We get better and more accurate information from Trackman™, the most advanced radar system in golf and the best fitting knowledge in the world to deliver our clients a holistic and long term result.
Most of our irons used during our fittings come in Upright, Standard and Flat lie angles. This allows us to ensure you get fit with the clubs that work for your swing.

How does a regular and a stiff shaft differ in golf?
In rawest terms a regular shaft is more flexible than a stiff, meaning generally it bends more during the swing. At Cool Clubs we take this to the next level, powered by S3 Technology we have much more detailed data on golf shafts (measured by the batch), this allows us to have a Cool Clubs industry standard. We look at many points that effect flex including butt, middle and tip stiffness, torque, mass, deflection profile, EI Curve, FM and many more.
This data accompanied by Trackman information and our fitter’s knowledge helps us understand not only a generalised term of flex (stiff, regular etc…), but more importantly where a player feels flex and what they need from the shaft to produce consistency in strike.
When choosing a flex, take into account all of the above information, not just the letter written on the shaft.
How long will it take to get my clubs?
Normally we have a two to four week turnaround for bespoke club builds. This can vary significantly and depending on the equipment specification.
This is significantly faster than custom OEM builds.
We do not give a guaranteed delivery time for your clubs but do keep you informed about where your order is. If we have a delay with one club this does not stop the remainder of your clubs from being delivered.
Club head and shaft availability from manufacturers and international freight can introduce delays. It is important to understand we do everything in our power to get your clubs to you as soon as possible
Your fitter will give you an approximate delivery date at the time of your fitting. This will be updated closer to that date once we know for sure when we can deliver it.
How to choose your first set of golf clubs?
Choosing your first set of golf clubs can be a daunting task.
Your first set of clubs are important as they will set your expectations for how clubs perform. Also, if they are correctly fitted, they will increase both your playing performance and enjoyment of the game.
What is most important is that you do not get fitted according to your handicap or gender. Often we hear of people being sold a set of clubs because they are high handicappers or women. You clubs do not know your gender or handicap. The important consideration is your swing.
Get fitted for clubs that are appropriate to how you swing the golf club and are appropriate to where you are looking to progress your game.
I have heard Cool Clubs fit a lot of “Stiffer flex” golf shafts why is this?
At Cool Clubs we are the only company to have full use of our-in house S3 machine and data. This allows us to learn about a golf shafts behaviour, player interaction and build capabilities better than any other company.
During a fitting we use this data to not only look at speed, but also tempo (something many fitters do not consider) and the shafts build capabilities alongside how a player’s technique may be reacting to these things.
We know how much tip section to take from a shaft to give optimal results for a player’s needs.
We know how shaft profiles change between flex options, even with the same make and model.
All these things lead to us giving our club builders the best information to assemble the club in the most efficient way for the player interaction and build quality.
Club head weights and shaft length also influence what “flex” a player should use.
At Cool Clubs we also have access to many premium quality shafts that are lighter weight than “stock” options. When a shaft is lighter it generally is built with less material and therefore has the potential to bend more.
Shaft manufacturers are producing lighter shafts that are super stable and can handle quicker speeds and sharper tempos, allowing for faster golf swings and more stable results.
When we build lighter shafts, the letter written on the shaft may be “stiff” but its profile and bending characteristics may be “Regular” or even softer. Therefore, when we discuss rigidity with a player, we talk about all the shaft characteristics rather than just the letter on the shaft.
The golf equipment industry, especially shaft technology, is very complex and has many generic terms. We strive to be leaders with our quality of information and correct building procedures relative to the advances in club technology.
Without the support of our proprietary S3 data we too would be making assumptions relative to different manufactures tolerances and possibly having to rely on what was written on the shaft. This technology sets us apart from any other club fitter and builder and gives our clients the best results.
I putt OK so why get a putter fitting?
Putting is the most over looked part of the game. The Cool Clubs team places considerable emphasis on optimising your putter and making it easier for you to pick your line, roll the ball and ultimately sink more putts.
The short game accounts for more than 50% of your golf game, therefore, by improving your putting you will play better golf. Our proprietary putting studio enables us to measure every aspect of your putting and make recommendations to improve your game.
I'm 5'7'. What size of golf clubs should I purchase?
Your vertical height as a measure does not have too much bearing on your club length.
A wrist to floor measurement would help better than height alone, but then a player gets into their individual posture by tilting at the hips, softening the knees, holding a good T-Spine position (or not), all making a difference to the length and lie the club should sit at address.
From here the swing is in motion and body shape changes again into an impact position. The most important position of the club during the swing is at impact.
Quite simply when looking at a club’s “size”, it has to allow the centre of gravity of the club head to match up with the ball during impact.
Is the driver's head or shaft more important?
As with any club, the driver head and shaft have equal importance.
Both need to marry together to get the players best results plus look and feel great to the player. As a fitter I think about it quite simply. The head has the majority of impact on what will occur to the ball as it is the point of contact.
The shaft is the timing mechanism that allows the player to deliver the head in the correct space and time… and consistently, the shaft also has an impact on ballistics.
When you marry these together a player sees and feels a good product, and is able to perform a repeatable and timed action for consistent results.
I’m a high handicap golfer, should I get fitted?
A skilled player or low handicap golfer can manipulate their technique to accommodate poor equipment much more effectively than a high handicapper.
A high handicap golfer’s swing is repeatable, but maybe not technically efficient. This is where we can put a club in that players hands that can give a more effective result.
Some high handicappers can be just as perceptive of a club’s specifications not quite being correct for them but do not have the skill-set to manipulate the club and change the result.
When we give a player like this a club that suits their speed, tempo, length, loft, lie and all other components, their technique can change for the better during the session and the results can be almost unbelievable.
In short, high handicap players can have a better result than low handicap players.
We have a passion to help you play better golf so do not be afraid of booking in. Our staff are excited to give you information that can transform your game.
Should I get a club fitting or get lessons?
The answer to this is a resounding yes.
Lessons are a vital part of being the best golfer you can be. Finding a good coach who can work with your club fitter is very important.
Problems with your game can be swing related or equipment related. We often see clients who have a swing defect because they are trying to compensate for an equipment problem.
At Cool Clubs we do not coach we are a specialist club fitter. That said there are times when we will stop a fitting because our client really needs to fix a swing problem. When this occurs we reschedule the fitting so the problem can be corrected by the clients coach.
So put simply both aspects of the game are important and should go hand in hand to making the game more enjoyable.
Understanding the Importance of Golf Club Loft and Lie for Improved Performance on the Course
Golf club loft and lie are two important factors that can affect a golfer’s performance on the course. Loft refers to the angle of the clubface, which determines how much the ball will rise into the air when hit. A higher loft angle will cause the ball to have a higher trajectory, while a lower loft angle will result in a lower trajectory. Lie angle, on the other hand, refers to the angle between the clubhead and the shaft, and it affects the direction the clubhead will travel when it hits the ball. A club with a poor lie angle will tend to slice or hook the ball, while a club with a good lie angle will produce a straight shot. Adjusting the loft and lie angles of a golf club can help a golfer fine-tune their shots for improved accuracy and distance.
What are some of the best golf drivers?
The one that works best for your swing.
We are often asked this question and really there is no meaningful answer. At any time any driver will work for some swings and not for others.
The important thing is that your golf club fitting matches the right driver and shaft for your swing that delivers the best performance in both distance and accuracy. It is important that your fitter has a wide range of driver heads and shafts from different manufacturers so you can always arrive at that peak club performance formula.
Single brand club fittings are unlikely to deliver that peak performance outcome. It is the understanding of the performance of many different drivers in combination with aftermarket shaft options is the key to a good club fitting.
What are the best golf clubs for kids?
Club fitting for kids is just as important as it is for adults.
Juniors have wide ranging amounts of strength, size and golfing ability, therefore there isn’t a set standard kids club.
Cool Clubs fit with standard adult heads matched to specific Junior shafts. This gives the best performance outcome for the junior but also enables ongoing performance tuning for growing bodies at a reasonable cost.
Our junior shafts are made with the same care as all our shafts but are specifically designed for junior golfers. We can even source lighter head weight and specialist grips to accommodate junior needs.
Our shafts come in multiple flexes and lengths allowing us to custom-build clubs to tighter tolerances than ever before for junior golfers. Cool Clubs’ junior fitting caters for children as young as five years old.
What brands do you stock?
Cool Clubs carries a large range of fitting options from all the major brands. Our range includes Ping, Titleist, Taylormade, Callaway, PXG, Srixon, Scotty Cameron, Bettinardi, Odyssey, Mizuno, Miura, EPON, Honma and others.
Additonally, we stock a large range of aftermarket shafts from Graphite Design, Nippon, KBS, ACCRA, Fujikura, Project X, Cool Clubs, True Temper, Aerotech and others.
What can I do to increase the distance of my drives?
Let’s make an assumption that your input speed (club head speed) will not increase.
Your first target is smash factor – To improve this you want to reduce any energy loss (too much friction).
This can be done by loft adjustment, face angle, COG placement, golf shaft, angle of attack and club path changes. Once you get your energy output up (ball speed increased) you can target correct ballistics – these two areas should start to marry up together with crisper striking of the ball.
A good fitter will get your launch, spin and land angle to perform in the correct way to optimise your carry and total distances relative to your your angle of attack and club speed. With a good overview of all of these aspects you will see your longest and straightest drives.
What does Cool Clubs do?

All our fittings are conducted outdoors on a range using premium golf balls(Pro V1’s or similar) utilising Trackman® hardware. This allows us to see what your ball flight is and measure it accurately.
Our S3 software in conjunction with our master fitters intimate knowledge of the equipment, wide range of options and long experience ensure the best club fitting available anywhere in the world.
All the equipment we sell is tested by us independently of the manufacturers using in-house developed testing equipment. For shafts, we have spent several hundred thousand dollars building our S3 Shaft Analyser which measures a shaft 180,000 times to determine its actual performance and allows a direct comparison with all other shafts we stock. Something no one else can do.
All this information is fed into our software and allows our master fitters to arrive at a precise recommendation for our clients every time.
For putter fittings we have developed an 8 camera, 1,000 frame per second putting studio valued at over $300K. This allows us to understand your putter stroke and determine the best putter for you.
We build to a tour standard that is unmatched in the industry either in our HQ in Scottsdale or to the same standard in Australia. Our full time R&D engineer is constantly improving our testing and building technology to ensure leading edge capabilities.
That’s what we do.
What handicap benefits from fitted clubs?
The short answer is all players from Touring pro to beginners will benefit from using clubs built specifically for them and their style of play. In fact the higher the handicap the greater the benefit as there is usually much more room for improvement.
What happens if a golf shaft is too flexible?
As a generalisation a player may experience:
- more erratic shot dispersion,
- abnormally high golf shots,
- shots that you feel a large amount of reverberation in the shaft feedback,
- inconsistent strikes across the face of the club
and other issues that make it harder for you to make clean contact with the ball and transfer power from your swing into the ball.
Therefore, getting the right flex for your swing is a critical part of what we do. Also knowing more about each shaft and how you load it will mean a much more enjoyable game and a lower score.
What is the best club?
This is a question we get asked often. “What is the best driver on the market”or a variation of that with iron, fairway wood, hybrid, putter inserted for driver. The short answer is there is no “Best” club.
No two swings are the same
There are clubs which work well for one swing and not for another. Often people come in with a club that worked well for a friend but does not operate well for the them. This situation is widespread.
Even if your swing is a similar speed to someone else that does not mean you should use the same club/shaft combination. Speed is only one determining factor. You also need to consider tempo, shaft loading profile, head launch and spin characteristics, shaft launch characteristics and many more factors.
Brands don’t matter
Your swing doesn’t care about the brand of club that is contacting the ball. Neither do we and neither should you. If you prefer one of the brands over another we will try to accommodate that but ultimately it is your choice if there is a trade-off between performance and brand loyalty.
Our goal isto allow your swing to perform as well as it can. To do this we ensure our head and shaft fitting matrix give us all the options we need achieve that. Everyone has a favourite brand but we don’t.
Get Fitted
The only real way to determine if a particular club will work for you is to have a fitting. Using the right technology and experience the best head and shaft combination for the individual can be determined every time.
What is the difference between SST Puring and Flo or Spine alignment?
Simply put the difference and the results are like the difference between the stone age and space age. SST Puring is evidence-based, reproducible, independent of human judgment and used extensively on the PGA tour.
If you are not getting offered SST Pure’d shafts you are not getting the best club performance possible.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Mastercard, Visa. American Express, EFT and Cash. We charge a 1% surcharge for all credit cards.
What set of irons is recommended for a beginner golfer?
The best set of irons for a beginner golfer are the ones that suit his or her swing the best. The way to find this our is to get a club fitting. Not all beginners swing the same way so a definitive answer
At Cool Clubs we do not base your fitting upon your age, gender or handicap (although we factor these into our choices if they help us understand your swing and longevity of a club).
We base the club we select on the players action. An example of this may be a beginner golfer with a very shallow angle of attack. Traditionally someone may give this person a “game improvement” iron head with a super wide sole. This may hinder the player from making crisp contact with the ball compared to a club with a slimmer sole design for better turf interaction and strike consistency, but perimeter weighting for heel to toe strike differential.
The old adage “do not judge a book by its cover” is key here but really a club fitter that truly understands different swing styles will help you make a better purchase.
Which is better: a 9.5 or 10.5 loft golf driver?
“Which driver loft would suit me?” is the real question you should ask. Loft is determined by many characteristics of your swing and the desired ball flight.
Lower loft can produce less spin, less launch, more ball speed and vice versa for 10.5* but it will drastically change from player to player.
You need to match your loft with your angle of attack, strike point, head shape (COG of driver) and shaft setup for it to produce “optimal” ballistics for you and you alone.
Loft can also change face angle visual which can be a huge factor in a player’s ability to deliver a square face. Before you just swap the loft on your head get fitted for all of the above characteristics.
Why Cool Clubs Golf Clubs Are Worth the Extra Cost: A Look at the Quality, Innovation, and Specialization Behind the Brand?
Cool Clubs is a premium golf club fitting and manufacturing company that is known for its high-quality products and services. As a result, their golf clubs may be more expensive than those from other manufacturers.
There are several reasons why Cool Clubs may charge more for their golf clubs. First, they use advanced materials and technologies in the construction of their clubs, which can add to the cost. For example, they may use high-grade carbon fiber or titanium in their clubheads or shafts, which are more expensive materials than those used by other manufacturers.
Second, Cool Clubs invests heavily in research and development in order to create innovative and high-performing clubs. This includes developing new clubhead designs, shaft materials, and manufacturing processes that can improve the performance of their clubs. These efforts can add to the cost of the clubs.
Finally, Cool Clubs is a smaller, more specialized company than some of the larger, mass-market manufacturers. They may have higher overhead costs as a result, which could contribute to the higher prices of their products.
Overall, Cool Clubs charges more for their golf clubs because they are a premium brand that uses advanced materials, invests in research and development, and is a smaller, specialized company. While their prices may be higher than some other brands, many golfers are willing to pay the extra cost for the quality and performance of Cool Clubs products.
Why Cool Clubs Independently Tests: Ensuring Quality and Performance Club Fittings
Cool Clubs is the premium golf club fitting and manufacturing company that is committed to producing high-quality, high-performing clubs. To ensure that their clubs meet their exacting standards, Cool Clubs conducts independent testing of all products.
Independent testing allows Cool Clubs to verify the performance and quality of their clubs without the influence of outside parties and the variations in measuring methods they use. This allows them to be confident in the claims they make about their products and to ensure that their clubs meet the needs and expectations of golfers.
Pepper the Robot
Pepper is used to test all new equipment we fit. Only products that make it through this process make it onto our equipment list. Doing this testing has many benefits to our customers.
We are able to compare the performance of all equipment we fit. Not just on perfect hits but across the face of the club.
We gather a lot of data that describes the actual performance of every club not just the theoretical performance supplied by manufacturers.
All this is fed into our fitting software and used by our fitters and builders to get the highest performing clubs for your swing.
S3 Shaft Analyser
Our in-house developed shaft analyser provides the same knowledge about the shafts we fit as Pepper provides for club heads.
It allows us to directly compare the performance of shafts across manufacturers. Something no other fitter can do.
It feeds data into the fitting and build process that ensure the clubs we build are exactly the right clubs for your swing.
Cool Clubs uses a range of in-house developed methods and equipment to test their clubs, including computer simulations, prototypes, and on-course testing. This allows Cool Clubs to evaluate the performance of their clubs under a variety of conditions and to make any necessary adjustments to ensure that they meet their standards.
Overall, independent testing is an important part of Cool Clubs’ commitment to quality and performance. By ensuring that their clubs are thoroughly tested and validated, they are able to offer golfers products that they can trust and rely on on the course.
Why can't anyone else build to your spec's
We know people come in and have a fitting then go elsewhere to have their clubs built. We get why this seems to be the best way to save some money on your clubs.
When you take your Cool Clubs spec to someone else to build they will say they can build it to our spec. We know they do but they are simply looking at the component list not the actual numbers which make the clubs work for you.
Here is one example of why clubs built elsewhere are not the same as the clubs we build. Ever. There are many others.
One of the specs we include is an FM number. This is a very precise measure of the shaft stiffness you need to get the best match to your swing. 99% of builders can’t even measure flex this way and the rest use a very different method that will arrive at a totally different performing club.
Grip On Frequency Measurement
When you had your fitting you would have seen the fitter measuring the flex of your current clubs. This was measured on a Grip On frequency machine like this one:
It is designed to measure club frequency with a gripped shaft. The insertion depth of the grip and clamping pressure are controlled to ensure an accurate measurement. We build these machines ourselves as their is no other frequency analyser on the market that does it this way and thus no one can measure the way we do.
Grip Off Frequency Machine
In order to build your clubs to the correct specification we use another frequency analyser designed to measure with no grip. This machine clamps the shaft in a very different way. More like the way a lathe clamps metal in a chuck.
This ensures the resulting club is built to the correct flex.
If you don’t see these machines used in your club build then the outcome is no better than a random process.
Why do I have to pay more for iron shafts when you specify a stock option?
I wish the answer to this was simple but basically it come down to Cool Clubs build controls and measurement points.
When Cool Clubs build a club, even when it is a stock option shaft, we do not order the built product from the club manufacturer directly. We source the brand of club from Ping, Titleist, Callaway, Srixon etc… We then source the shaft at its raw uncut length from the shaft manufacturer, and source the grips brand new from the grip manufacturer.
We then sort the head weights, shaft weights and grip weights in our stock at Cool Clubs USA. We do this to highlight any anomalies and eradicate them during the build. As with any manufacturing there are tolerances in weights and frequency (stiffness). Once a shaft is cut it cannot be made stiffer or softer without adjusting another variable such as length or weight.
When we spec you for key points such as length, Swing Weight and FM (flex) they all link together. If we were to try and reuse pre-cut products from manufacturers it would literally be a guessing game as to how many clubs we could get correct to your specifications.
To give you the club we promised we have to source all of the components individually, measure each piece and ensure its consistency relative to your build, and finally use our technology to build it accurately by balancing all of the components in the most efficient way. After we have done this, we can stand by the product we sell you and guarantee it does what we said it would do, or better than it did during the fitting process.
By taking any part of this process out of our control means we cannot guarantee the products performance. We even offer SST PURE on our builds to tighten our tolerances and get the club’s performance to a level unrivalled within the industry.
People ask, “As an average golfer would I notice these differences?”
I respond with; skilled golfers can notice imperfections and manipulate their techniques in acute ways to account for them. The less skill you have the more consistent club you require as you may not have the ability to correct the issue the club is causing.
Even if you have a very basic fitting and you are recommended Regular flex and not a Stiff. Let’s say that iron shafts have 0.5FM (stiffness) tolerance per shaft, the 4 irons comes out 0.5 under flex and the 6 iron comes out 0.5 over flex, you now have a full flex difference between the 4 and 6 iron, and yet they are within the manufacturer’s tolerance. A skilled golfer may feel this and adjust their 4 iron swing and 6 iron swing to manipulate the best result they can.
An unskilled golfer would keep trying to make the same swing and get poor results, or even worse feel something is not correct and adjust their swing in a negative way to account for the issue.
In short at Cool Clubs we go through our process’ and charge appropriately for the work we do to deliver you what you paid for, and help you play better golf.
Why do you charge for fitting my clubs?
Once you’ve experienced our fitting services first-hand – what we do and how we do it – that question will be answered in the interim, and until you use our services, this is why.
Cool Clubs provides statistically-supported fitting and club building services for a complete set of clubs – from the tee to the green.
The charge for club fitting services covers our internationally experienced club fitters using proprietary software, advanced technology, analytics and most important a client-unique report which will leave you with no doubt about the shaft and head combinations best suited to your swing dynamics.
We have no doubt that once a client has invested in our fitting services and custom built clubs their game performance and confidence will increase. The only component that will decline will be their handicap.
Importantly, Cool Clubs is brand neutral, so our club fitting is 100% unbiased; that is we have no conflict of interest as we draw from a plethora of well-known brands. We are at your service and not affiliated with any brand owner or manufacturer.
Why do you want full payment with the order?
All our clubs are 100% custom built for each customer. No two sets are the same.
Our build process ensures our clubs are built to fit our customers like a glove. This means we cannot reuse the components for another swing.
If a customer changes their mind we cannot sell the clubs to others.
Why don't you sell components?
We are often asked for prices on un-built components or to build clubs to someone else’s specifications.
Because our whole philosophy is to fit and build equipment without compromise and guarantee the performance of our client’s game is improved we cannot build to another specification.
To do so would mean we would be diverging from this fundamental principle.
Why fit with tournament balls?
We aim to provide the most accurate data available in the world during our fitting sessions. Using tournament balls gives us the best possible ball flight statistics whereas range balls are designed to warm up your golf swing and are not accurate enough for us to give you the very best fitting service.
Tournament balls enable precise data capture and analysis by your Cool Clubs’ fitter.
Why have Cool Clubs build your Clubs?
Randomly buying a head and shaft will often result in a club that cannot be built to your individual swing dynamics and specification.
A golf club specified for you is more than the sum of the components. Whilst you can get the components elsewhere and get anyone to build the club it will not result in a club that meets Cool Clubs specification.
Cool Clubs goes to great lengths to ensure our tour level specifications are calibrated to our build equipment. This takes time, specialist equipment, knowledge and a great deal of effort. It results in a premium quality club that exactly matches your fitting specification. Our specification produced on other building equipment will result in an unpredictable outcome.
The analogy we use is a Ferrari supplied as a bunch of parts to your local mechanic. Sure they may be able to put all the pieces together but can they really build it as well as the original factory. There are many hidden techniques in building a Ferrari that the local mechanic does not know or have access to the technology to know. The same applies to golf clubs. A builder with a loft/lie machine and some glue cannot build to our specifications and cannot provide the performance you saw at your fitting.
Cool Clubs build to tolerances and using methods only seen in our build shop. Our build capabilities far exceed the accepted practices in the industry.
Why is it important to be fitted outdoors?
Cool Clubs use Trackman Doppler radar to fit all our clients. This technology in combination with our master fitters experience and our in-depth independent understanding of the performance of each head and shaft mean we can gather the maximum amount of information to make the right selection for your game.
In order to ensure the combinations that are hit during a fitting perform as predicted it is crucial we use premium balls on a driving range. This allows us to see ball flight and get actual numbers from Trackman which can be calculated when hitting indoors.
Many things influence the right club and shaft combination including gear effect and turf interaction which cannot be determined through an indoors only fitting.
Why use all this technology?
Many places fit golf clubs why use all this technology?
We have searched the world to bring to Australia the very best in diagnostic fitting software and technology. Our combination of Trackman and our own software and hardware allow us to provide objective evidence of the results you will achieve with our custom clubs.
This coupled with the skill and experience of our Master fitters and our unparalleled understanding of the performance of each component of the club delivers a club suited to your swing like no other.
We believe that if you are going to invest your hard-earned money in new golf clubs it’s worth knowing you’re getting the very best clubs that suit your game and budget.
Will you build clubs to someone else's club specification?
We do not build to other fitters specifications. Doing so would mean we could not guarantee the clubs we build are right for our customers.
We also do not sell components for the same reason.
Cool Clubs has developed its own measuring equipment. This is to overcome some of the shortcomings with the commercially available measuring equipment. All our measurements are taken with equipment calibrated daily across all our sites worldwide. This ensures what we fit is what we build.
Additionally our fitters approach a fitting very differently and have data that no other fitter has access to. This often results in significant deviation from the results other fitters get and their equipment recommendations.
As we guarantee the performance of the clubs we build we do not know, without a fitting, whether the specs we are given will deliver the club performance we expect for our customers.
