What happens if a golf shaft is too flexible?

Outside of how a player changes their action to account for the shaft bending or deflecting too much there are many things that can occur as a result of a “soft” shaft or an incorrect shaft profile.

As a generalisation a player may experience:

  • more erratic shot dispersion,
  • abnormally high golf shots,
  • shots that you feel a large amount of reverberation in the shaft feedback,
  • inconsistent strikes across the face of the club

and other issues that make it harder for you to make clean contact with the ball and transfer power from your swing into the ball.

Therefore, getting the right flex for your swing is a critical part of what we do. Also knowing more about each shaft and how you load it will mean a much more enjoyable game and a lower score.
