To optimise his carry distance and dispersion, Lucas needed a driver head and shaft combination that would produce a lower spin rate while maintaining his launch angle. The Taylormade M6 with Fujikura Pro Tour Spec combination gave Lucas an extra 20 meters of carry distance by reducing his spin rate by 30%.
It was a similar scenario with the irons, Lucas needed a more appropriate head and shaft combination to optimise his ball flight. The stronger profile and frequency of the KBS Tour V shaft, in combination with the Taylormade P760 heads provided this for Lucas by lowering his spin loft slightly while maintaining his high launch and optimal landing angle.
